Today we visit a typical Chinese market. We are here first thing in the morning so all the very best items are here. Everything is fresh. That means it was picked or slaughtered this very morning. In fact, some of the meat and poultry is purchased alive and taken home to prepare. The two main areas are produce and meat. As you will see below, there is every kind of produce imaginable. The hotels and restaurants come early in the morning to buy the best stuff. The less money you have the later you wait to come to market. As it is nearly everywhere in China, you bargain for the price.
It all looked so good. Lots of fresh tomatoes too, which I really wanted to buy. Now you will see the meat department. I warn those who might not want to see the dog section not to look at the last two pictures (they are kind of hard to see anyway). We have everything from live turtles to pigs feet, intrails including a bladder (what you would do with that I do not want to know), to dogs in cages (except the one they slaughtered, scalded and de-haired.
Have a nice day. What's for dinner? Mmmmm...dog!
