China
One of our first places of interest was the rice terraces on the mountains near Yangshuo. Our hotel was quite a ways up the mountain so we had to hike our way up. We took just enough things for a one night stay. Our hotel is the far right section of the uppermost buildings in the group. This shot is taken at about half way. For a small fee, we were able to hire transportation for grandma LaRee. There is no way she would be able to hike up and down that mountain. It made it fun for her to be carried like a queen. The rice terraces were spectacular. They cover the mountains all around. Just think, it was all done by hard hand labor. The people who live up here lead a very simple life...and they are very happy people. The Li River is one of the most picturesque rivers in China; surrounded by those famous mountains that jut straight up out of the earth. We went on a crise for about three hours enjoying the beauty of nature.Who could visit China without going to see the Terracotta Warriors? This is an amazing sight. No two statues are alike. Their clothing, phisical build and facial features are unique, as though they were once an army of real people. This room contains about 2,000 warriors which is a fraction of what is yet to be uncovered. They know there are at least 4,000 more buried nearby. The Great Wall. It is impossible to describe or show the unbelieveable expanse of this most incredible man made wall. To see first hand the wall climbing up and over mountains, down the valley and back up again, zig-zagging its way farther than the eye can see, boggles the imagination. WOW!
