A Visit with Michelle

We didn't get to "capture the moment" except for in our memory. So the photos are from the internet.
We did have a fantastic, jammed packed, relaxing, parent/daughter bonding, killer time. The night she arrived we went fishing and got totally drenched in heavy rain. The only catch was a small sting ray. Michelle and I didn't enjoy watching it get clubbed to death. What else could they do?

We set out early the next morning for the Gros Piton Nature Hike. The hike is two miles and really should be called a climb because it is mostly vertical - very rugged and steep. Much of it is over volcanic rocks and roots that cross the path that give almost a stair like appearance. This was HARD! Mom couldn't make it but Dad and Shell made to the top while Mom sat at the three quarter point. It took us about 2 1/2 hours up and around 2 hours down.

        It was death defying!

That was followed by a very lovely lunch at the Ladera resort restaurant. We sat and caught our breath - except for what was taken away by the spectacular view.

This was immediately followed by snorkeling at Anse Chastenet. This is a marine reserve and the colorful fish are plentiful. On Saturday there was shopping, more snorkeling (nearby), relaxing and dinner at a quaint restauratt called the Coal Pot. Sunday we just relaxed after church. Grilled some steak, talked and enjoyed each others company. On the way to the airport in Vieux Fort the next morning we took a scenic route. There were some lovely photo ops and a short side trip into a small waterfall (where Michelle got hit on, ask her about it). The good byes came way too soon but we were very grateful for what time we had together. It was 45 years ago that since it was just the three of us.
